Barclays is part of the Isle of Man community. We’re proud to operate and support community initiatives across the island.

Every year, our people spend more than 3,500 hours volunteering for locally good causes. Employee fundraising for charities is backed by Barclays, which has contributed around £130,000 in matched funding, with a further £50,000 being donated to local charities.

We also work with organisations across the island and deliver initiatives of our own:

Children in Need recognises the Barclays IoM team as an official call centre. More than 200 volunteers man the phones to help the public support this much-loved charity event. We also run our own fundraising events, which are supported by many of our clients, raising around £10,000 a year.

LifeSkills is our own programme designed to provide young people aged 11 – 19 with the advice, support and opportunities they need to prepare for the world of work. Staff members deliver curriculum-linked workshops covering people, work and money skills to the majority of secondary schools and colleges on the island. By 2016 we had reached more than 1,000 students through school workshops, and we continually work with local schools to strengthen our partnership with them.

Barclays Digital Wings is a free programme designed to give people the knowledge and confidence to do more with digital technologies. Events like Tea & Teach are specifically aimed at anyone who struggles with technology, helping them improve their understanding and keep up with digital trends. Code Playground helps children enhance their coding skills, preparing them for a future in which the ability to code is becoming increasingly important.
